We appreciate the opportunity you have given us to take care of your precious eyesight. Rest assured that Dr. Torres is a board certified, highly qualified ophthalmologist that will take the time and has the ability to take care of your eye problems.
Dr. Torres is a sub specialist ophthalmologist in diseases and surgery of the retina, macula and the vitreous. This includes problems such as age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, vascular diseases, epiretinal membranes and macular holes among others.

He received a bachelor degree in pre medical sciences from the prestigious University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez campus Magna Cum Laude. After graduating with honors at the Ponce School of Medicine in his native Puerto Rico he completed a transitional internship at Wilson Memorial- Binghamton Hospital in Johnson City, New York affiliated with the State University of New York at Syracuse.
He completed a three year ophthalmology residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Medical Center, located in the Bronx, NY which is affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Yeshiva University.

Dr. Torres served as Chief resident of Ophthalmology during his senior year in charge of the hospital eye clinic. After this, he completed a two-year medical-surgical retina fellowship at South Texas Retina Consultants, Corpus Christi, Texas, serving all of South Texas.

He is licensed in Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico and New York. Locally he is part of the medical staff at University Community Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, Memorial Hospital and St Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He is also a Ponce School of Medicine Auxiliary professor Ad Honorem for their surgery department. Dr. Torres is a member of:

Dr. Torres resides in New Tampa with his wife, where they enjoy spending time with their children while exploring the many outdoor recreational opportunities in Florida.
